New artwork in progress.
I have so many ideas tucked in the back of my brain pan. For several years I’ve been very creative indeed….in my head. Wrangling that artwork out of my head and onto a separate surface has been a whole other thing altogether.
I LOVE paper. I love the tactile nature of paper, the sound of paper rustling, the sight of paper moving in a breeze…paper. Like most creatives, I have a ‘Magpie’ collection of random bits of ephemera, with a dash of flotsam and jetsam thrown in for good measure. There is a LOT of paper in that collection.
New photography lights came with bonus ‘surprise’.
Last year I purchased some new studio lighting equipment. Said equipment came packaged with lots of hefty, dense corrugated cardboard. As soon as I saw it, I knew I wanted to make something with it. Of course it went into my Magpie pile.
A couple of days ago, I got an idea for some of that cardboard and started working on a multi-layered, multi-stepped project that will ultimately incorporate corrugated cardboard, photography, digital collage, pen and ink, watercolor paper, watercolor, acrylics and pastels. I’m pretty excited about it. Here are a few snaps of the progress to this point:
